2008-2010
'The Art of Ping Pong' was originally a conceptual outcome of a brief by Jono Sandilands to encourage people to play more table tennis and received commendation at 2008/09 YCN annual student awards. The concept was to record where the ball makes contact with the table during a game. This allows player interactivity and game play to create original pieces of artwork.
Development:
2010-2012
Supported by a Visual Artist Award from Shetland Arts in partnership with Creative Scotland and Shetland Islands Council the development stage of The Art of Ping Pong was to make the concept a reality. Whilst still maintaining full time employment Jono has been working on the development stage, exploring many different methods of tracking and also widening his skills in programming software and hardware along the way.
